About Us

Colavecchio farm, of which Tenuta Colavecchio is a part, was built in the late 18th-century by Francesco Saverio Colavecchio .

The expansion and consolidation of the vineyard and winery business was made by his son Nicholas and his nephew Anthony who, in addition to holding public office several times as mayor of Putignano from 1861 to 1870 and provincial councilor, dedicated himself to the production of high quality wines. Anthony participated in both national and international competitions, as is proven by the many diplomas of merit still in the possession of Tenuta Colavecchio.

In 1895, the successor in a straight line, Joseph, built the house of Tenuta Colavecchio to closely monitor the cultivation of the family farm and, together with his son Umberto, continued the work begun by their ancestors, leaving the Colavecchio winery to their heirs, Joseph and Luigi.

Since 1985 the family has been dedicated to modernizing Colavecchio’s facilities for the production of white wines, rosés and reds with the application of cutting-edge technologies that, while respecting tradition, are mindful of the needs of modern consumers.

The new generation of Colavecchios, represented by Rosalba, have, with determination, passion and meticulous work of research and reconstruction,  retored the ancient home of their great-grandfather.

Tenuta Colavecchio today is a building of great charm and historical fascination of history, a link between past and future.
